We keep moving forward, 2017 is now in the past. What does your 2018 bring?
What it should bring is a challenge to be the best possible version of yourself.
Motivation is an interesting concept, we tend to either have it or we don’t. some people seem to struggle to find it, others seem to have endless amounts. But what if we changed the definition of motivation ?
I want to learn how to speak another language, i want to pick up those dance classes again we seem to want to do something but we are always hitting a brick wall.
The brick wall is will power
I’m sure you can recall a time of being highly motivated, i have had it numerous times but one in particular is when i completed the Murph challenge x3. For those that don’t know, Murph is a Workout that involves, 1mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 press ups, 300 squats and to finish another 1 mile run. i did this times 3, it took me 2hours 39minutes to complete.
i’m not trying to show off, but trust me many times during that i wanted to quit and stop and because i saw the light and the goal at the end of completion it made me continue,
how does this reflect back to motivation and challenge?
Challenging yourself everyday is an important part of life, you will keep growing and become a better and more interesting person. By constantly fulfilling our small term goals in life, we will without thinking become a ‘doer’
people know ‘doer’s’ you seem them on social media, you probably know them in person, however they are known to just take everything in their stride and smash through the day’s agenda like a bull seeing red.
The art of do’ing is quite simple, all you need to do is achieve those small term goals, and before you know it, you will be ticking off your new year resolutions early this year.
Key Take away
Achieving your goals is actually a lot simpler than you think and as Ryan Holiday states in ‘Ego is the Enemy’ your mind can seduce you so much so that the idea of something becomes more satisfying than the objective itself, so you stop at the idea and never make it real.
everyone can dream and tell people about their goals, but will you take the brave step forward to actually fulfilling your ambitions?
Before you go
